JBE, Inc., a supplier to the automotive, aerospace and industrial electrical industries, announced its decision to expand into the city of Hanahan in Berkeley County. The investment is expected to create approximately 20 new jobs in the region.

As part of this expansion, the company plans to grow its aerospace work and better serve all of its customers through proximate access to the Port of Charleston.

“We are honored to have JBE, Inc. joining our business community. Hanahan is a great city to live, work and play, and we look forward to working with JBE, Inc. as a new business partner,” Mayor Minnie Newman-Blackwell said.

“JBE, Inc. is a wonderful asset and we're proud to welcome them to the region. As a supplier for Boeing and Cummins, JBE supports two vital industry sectors – aerospace and automotive – that are instrumental in growing our region's economic prosperity,” added Charleston Regional Development Alliance Board Chairman Bob Whitten.

Established in 1982 as a family-owned business in Hartsville, South Carolina, JBE, Inc. currently has 55 employees and is among only a handful of minority-owned companies on the East Coast to hold a Foreign Trade Zone designation. The company serves a variety of industry leaders in a sub-assembly and manufacturing capacity, including: Boeing, Cummins, Otis Elevator, Honda, Sonoco, Hengst and ABB.
