Police Blotter – We all grieve in different ways

  • Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Officers were called to a local cemetery after family members had a slight disagreement about what could go into their loved oneís coffin.

The victim told an officer that he was hit by his stepson, the report said. He said his stepson put a photograph in the casket even after the family agreed that only letters would be placed with the body.

When the picture was removed, the stepson allegedly reared back and punched the victim in the face, according to the police report.

The punch caused severe swelling and the laceration needed stitches, the report said.

Several witnesses who attended the funeral gave statements concurrent with the victimís.

The victim was taken to the hospital and said he wanted to press charges. Officers secured a warrant for the suspectís arrest for Assault and Battery 2nd Degree.
