The Moultrie News and Mount Pleasant Recreation Department (MPRD) come together each week to feature a local track or cross-country athlete from East Cooper as part of MPRD spotlight.

Jayla Grant, 12, is a member of the Mount Pleasant Track Club. She competes in the shot put and discus throw.

What's your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

G: TGI Fridays

What's the best moment of your athletic career?

G: Winning state in shot put and discus.

What's the best advice you've received from a coach?

G: Keep your arms straight when you come out of the circle.

What do you look forward to most about being an adult?

G: Being on my own.

What are the most difficult, and what are the most fun aspects of track?

G: The most difficult is getting the technique down and most fun is being part of a team.

What is your favorite TV show?

G: “Friday” and “Hit the Floor”

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would you choose?

B: Gabrielle Douglas, Beyonce and Chris Brown.
