Police Blotter - Climbing the moral ladder

  • Monday, July 7, 2014

Officers were called to a residence in reference to a burglary in progress. The witness saw a white male cut a screen and enter the residence through a window. As they were setting up the perimeter, officers heard a disturbance in an adjoining residence. They made contact with the two subjects involved in the disturbance and found that the male subject matched the description of the burglary suspect.

The officer spoke to him and asked if he had entered the adjoining house through the window and he said no, he had only slashed the window with a knife.

When asked why in the world he would do such a thing, he said, I dont know.

The officer determined that the suspect threw the knife in some nearby woods. It was later found and turned in as evidence.

A witness told police she watched the entire event unfold and that the suspect used the knife to pry open the window. Pry marks were found on the window.

She told police the suspect climbed in through the window looking for a ladder.

Once the homeowner was notified and agreed to press charges, police questioned the suspect again and he eventually admitted to the theft.

The suspect was arrested and charged with Burglary.
