The Moultrie News and the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department (MPRD) come together each week to feature a local track or cross-country athlete from East Cooper as part of MPRD spotlight.

London Kearney and Dylan Bouchelle are members of the Mount Pleasant Track Club. Kearney, 7, competes in the 400-meter dash, the 800 and the javelin throw. Bouchelle, 12, competes in the 1,500, 3,000 and the javelin.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

Kearney: Usain Bolt

Bouchelle: Jadeveon Clowney

What's your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

LK: Bricco Bracco

DB: Water's Edge

What's the best moment of your athletic career?

LK: Qualifying at the state meet in all three of my events to advance to regionals.

DB: When I got 16th for mini-javelin at nationals last year.

What's the best advice you've received from a coach?

LK: A good practice week makes a good meet.

DB: To pace yourself.

What do you look forward to most about being an adult?

LK: Playing sports at the highest level possible.

DB: Having my own house.

What are the most difficult, and what are the most fun aspects of track?

LK: The most difficult is the speed work and the most fun is being part of an awesome team.

DB: Sprinting at the end of the 3,000-meter run.

What is your favorite movie and TV show?

LK: “The Lego Movie,” “Dog with a Blog”

DB: “Ride Along,” “Duck Dynasty”

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would you choose?

LK: It would be more than three. I would choose my family, grandparents and my godparents.

DB: Cam Newton, Chipper Jones and LeBron James.
