Skate Dance Dream is coming to Charleston July 19 for a special one-time only area performance.

Skate Dance Dream is a new kind of show tour that fuses dance and ice skating together teaming professionals with local youth talent. The show will be staged at the Carolina Ice Palace at 7 p.m. and is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.

Amelia Lowe and Tucker Knox, top finalists from seasons nine and 10 of “So You Think You Can Dance”, will headline Skate Dance Dream Charleston.

On the ice, 2013 U.S. National Pewter Medalist Courtney Hicks, 2012 U.S. National Junior Silver medalist Tim Dolensky and U.S. National competitor Sean Rabbitt will round out the cast.

Sharing the spotlight with their heroes in the show will be local dancers and skaters from the surrounding areas selected through a web-based audition process.

The Star Cast will showcase a broad range of talents both individually and as a group, including two special group numbers with the local dancers and skaters.

Skate Dance Dream is the only U.S. traveling show production that fuses dance and ice skating together, with a dance stage on ice.

It also stands a part from other tours by combining the nation's best dancers and figure skaters with local rising up-and-comers. In each tour stop, these locals will also have the opportunity to take classes learning from the pros, attend rehearsals with them, and culminating with the show performance for the ultimate dream experience.

“We are excited to offer something new, entertaining, and different to fans of the arts and performance communities,” executive producer Parker Pennington said. “Attendees of this show will be in for a real treat, as Skate Dance Dream engages our audiences from start to finish. It is a high energy, variety packed, family friendly show. It offers a look at the diverse talents of all ages, both locally and nationally. And, at the center of it all, are dreams coming true for these local kids. We hope to one day see them dancing or skating in the national and Olympic stage.”
