Splash Day fun in the sun at Memorial Waterfront Park

  • Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Beat the heat as Memorial Waterfront Park turns into a water park during the fifth annual Town of Mount Pleasant Splash Days. Giant waterslides and children's laughter will fill the lawn for the first of three events on July 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All activities and admission are free.

Families and kids of all ages will be treated to such activities as a 27-foot dual-lane Tropical Plunge, 22-foot Roaring River slide, 18-foot Super Splash Down, 16-foot Dolphin Splash, 18-foot Rip and Dip, and 22-foot Curve Action slide, along with a spray-down by the Mount Pleasant Fire Department.

A 15-foot Aqua Bounce House slide and a 15-foot Big Kahuna slide will be set up for adventurous children six and under only. Parents of children in this age group should come prepared to get wet as the activities may only be suitable for children whose parent is willing to slide and play along. Activities most appropriate for children under three will include hula hoops, the fire-hose shower and the park playground.

Charleston Festival Foods will offer shaved ice, lemonade slushes, hot dogs, chips, floats, soda and water. The River Watch Café at the pier shop will offer sandwiches, snacks, milkshakes, soda and water.

Special thanks to Y102.5 FM, Mosquito Squad and www.InTown.com for sponsoring Splash Days.

There will be two more Splash Days this summer: July 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please remember that skateboards, bikes, pets and glass bottles are prohibited during the events. Parents are not permitted to drop children off. All children must be supervised by parents, guardians or camp counselors.
