Border rivals are set to collide Saturday in the eighth annual Clash of the Carolinas at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island.

The all-star event matches up the top senior soccer players from South Carolina against the best from North Carolina.

Wando boys soccer standouts Darby Martens and Alex Bourland will team up one final time to represent East Cooper on the South Carolina squad.

Wando girls goalkeeper Logan Nelson will join Bishop England head coach Dave Snyder on the South Carolina girls team. Nelson was the only keeper selected to the South Carolina girls team.

The Clash of the Carolinas is billed as the only interstate all-star soccer game in the nation. North Carolina leads the girls series, 5-1-1, while North Carolina (Tarheels) leads South Carolina (Sandlappers) 3-1-3 in the boys series.

South Carolina snapped North Carolina's four-year winning streak with a 3-3 tie in last year's girls game. North Carolina won its third straight in the boys series with a 2-0 shutout last season.

The event begins at 2 p.m. with the girls game, while the boys match is set for 4 p.m. A live three-camera high-definition broadcast will be available at www.nscaatv.com. Game film will be available for purchase at www.tourbeausportsgroup.com.

Admission is $10.

The Charleston Battery close the night against the Charlotte Eagles at 7 p.m.
