Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, a national partnership with the Surfrider Foundation to help keep America’s beaches “barefoot friendly,” came back to Folly Beach for the third year in a row.
More than 100 community volunteers and former American Idol finalist Elise Testone picked up tons of trash from Folly Park, along the muddy marshlands, the causeway and on Folly Beach. Some of the weirdest pieces of trash included a bicycle, bowling pins and even a person’s underwear! Following the cleanup, volunteers were thanked for their efforts at a Surfrider-hosted celebration featuring Barefoot Wine, surf-inspired fare and a live musical performance by Testone.
