Mount Pleasant's Troy and Ethan Cocco earn All-American honors

Mount Pleasant Track Club (MPTC) turned in two more All-American performances Thursday at the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Outdoor Championship.

Troy Cocco finished sixth overall in the boys 9-10 year-old javelin throw, while his brother Ethan placed seventh in the 11-12 javelin. Troy and Ethan join Chloe Berda as MPTC's three All-American athletes two days into the national track meet at Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas.

MPTC's Kristen Fairey qualified for the finals of the girls 15-16 1,500-meter Thursday with a preliminary run of 5:05. Zeniyah Lawrence qualified for the 13-14 girls 100-meter semifinals with a prelim time of 12.30.

MPTC had six other athletes placed in the top 32 of their respective events Thursday. Elijah Bull finished 23rd (1.55) in the boys 13-14 high jump and 36th in the 100-meter hurdles. Chandler Robinson finished 24th (15.72) in the boys 13-14 100-meter hurdles, Haley Baker 28th (9.89) in the girls 13-14 triple jump, Dylan Bouchelle 29th (28.88) in the boys 11-12 javelin and Jonathan Ray 32 (12.52) boys shot-put.

MPTC returns to competition Friday competing in nine events.
