The Sertoma Club is looking for singers to audition to perform the National Anthem at the 44th annual Sertoma Football Classic Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 at The Citadelís Johnson Hagood Stadium.
Interested singers can upload their video auditions to the Sertoma Classic Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sertomafootballclassic.
Deadline for all entries is Aug. 8 at noon. All participants chosen must be available Aug. 21 and 22.
Tickets for Sertoma are $12 and can be purchased through high school cheerleader squads or at the gate on game days. Gates open at 4 p.m. with kickoff at 5 p.m.
For the past 43 years, Sertoma has been an annual tradition not only signaling the beginning of high school football season in the Lowcountry, but also assisting local nonprofits to continue their missions with 100 percent of the proceeds going to local charities and schools. Windwood Farm Family Services, Eagle Harbor Ranch, Trinitas Foundation, Camp Happy Days, Boy Scouts of America, Ronald McDonald House, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, West Ashley JROTC, SCHSL, participating schools and other charities were all recipients of last yearís Sertoma Football Classic.
During Sertoma, there will be a $5 parking fee for all lots, including the Holiday Alumni Center Lot, Stoney Field Lot, Altman Center Lot and MUSC Lot.
Although the entertainment and excitement of the game usually take the spotlight, the importance of the game is continue the giving mission of the Sertoma (SERvice TO MAnkind) Club of Charleston.
