Recently, the South Carolina Exchange Club and its many local chapters received a number of honors during the organization's national convention, held July 9-12 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Elizabeth Grantham of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club was selected as National Exchangite of the Year, and her husband, Paul Grantham, received the “Just One More” Award for recruiting more new Exchange Club members than anyone else in this past year nationwide.
South Carolina was honored as Outstanding District, with Fred Whittle and Gwen Lowe receiving the Distinguished District President and Distinguished District Director awards respectively.
The Mount Pleasant Exchange Club won the Club Hat Trick Award, which honored the chapter for sponsoring a new club, having a net increase of at least one member for the year and maintaining a retention rate of 90 percent.
Other local winners included the Exchange Club of Charleston for the Campaign for Kids Award and Folly Beach for National Outstanding Service Project. This year's local Big E Award recipients were Charleston, North Charleston, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, Beaufort and Evening Exchange.
