A distraught woman called police after someone attempted to abduct her, according to a Mount Pleasant police report. She told the officer she went to a store in Towne Centre and when walking back to her car, noticed a white work van parked next to hers.

She told the officer the side doors of the van were opened outward, blocking access to her driver’s door. She waited politely, according to the report, and observed a man inside the van reach to shut the doors. She then squeezed by the doors and reached for her door handle. Suddenly the unidentified man reached out and grabbed her by her jaw and pulled her to him. She did not understand the language he spoke. She said she pushed the man away and started to scream and the man backed up and said, “oh,. sorry, sorry and he jumped in the van and it drove off.

According to the report, she believed her assailant to be the passenger as someone else was driving the van.

She was able to describe the suspect and the van to some degree and officers went out in serach of the vehicle to no avail.

Security footage from the area was being obtained to further officer’s investigation.
