Hot Nights and Holy City dinner Aug 10

  • Tuesday, August 5, 2014

The dog days are approaching and summer produce is abundant – time again for Middleton Place Restaurant and Holy City Brewing (HCB) to host the second annual Hot Nights and Holy City Beer Dinner. In contrast to the January Braise and Brew dinner partnership, with its heavier, braised meat and dark winter beer pairings, Hot Nights and Holy City offers lighter fare with summer seasonal brews. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 10 from 6-9 p.m. in the air-conditioned Middleton Place Pavilion.

Executive Chef Brandon Buck has reached out to regional farmers for their freshest and finest to create his five-course summer dinner. South Carolina's Manchester Farms quail, North Carolina's Ashley Farms guinea hen and Heritage Farms pork belly, along with a Carolina shrimp bouillabaisse, will heat up the sultry night.

Chef Buck and Holy City's Chris Brown expertly paired Yeast Wrangler, In the Wheat of the Night, Old Lightning Smoked Scotch Ale and Fish Bowl with the courses. Washout Wheat, HCB's tribute to the iconic Folly Beach Washout will start the night and for dessert, Middleton Place Restaurant Pastry Chef Courtney Simpson will offer her version of a Southern summer favorite, Raspberry Moon Pie paired with a limited production Schneider Dew.

Local musical genius Graham Whorley will provide the evening's soundtrack. The cost is $85 per person, which includes gratuity. Hot Nights and Holy City attendees are entitled to 10 percent off their room rate at the Inn at Middleton Place that night. Tickets can be purchased at www.middletonplace.org, or by calling 843-556-6020. Reservations to the Inn at Middleton Place can be made by calling 843-556-0500.

The mission of the Middleton Place Foundation, a public nonprofit educational trust, is to sustain the highest levels of preservation and interpretation for the Middleton Place National Historic Landmark, its affiliated properties and their collections and programs. Middleton Place and the Middleton Place Restaurant are located at 4300 Ashley River Road, Charleston, South Carolina.
