Local businesses invited to work at Local Works every Friday

  • Thursday, August 14, 2014

In celebration of Global Coworking Week, Lowcountry Local First (LLF) announces “Free Coworking Fridays” during the entire month of August starting Aug. 8.

Coworking allows local businesses to have shared, collaborative office space. Free Coworking Friday participants must be Lowcountry Local First members in order to participate. Lowcountry Local First membership consists of local-independent business owners, farmers, nonprofit organizations, artists and individuals interested in creating and maintaining a strong, resilient local economy. Business memberships start at $125, or $50 for community membership. Those interested in Free Coworking Fridays must reserve their space at Local Works by noon the Thursday prior, as space is limited. Reserve space by emailing larry@lowcountrylocalfirst.org or calling 843-801-3390. Welcome sessions and tours of Local Works will take place at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. each Friday for those who have reserved.

Lowcountry Local First is filling a much-needed niche in Charleston's burgeoning entrepreneurial community with Local Works, an open-sector coworking space in the creative corridor at 1630-2 Meeting Street. Local Works is a low-cost, professional, open-floor-plan space where local businesses can thrive in a collaborative environment. The 3,000-square-foot facility complements existing tech-sector spaces that are already up-and-running in Charleston.

Full and part-time coworking opportunities are still available and Lowcountry Local First is taking applicants now.
