On Sept. 8, locally owned and operated Fleet Feet Sports Mount Pleasant will host the nationally acclaimed RunSafer workshop in its store, taught by two-time Olympic distance runner Todd Williams. Williams, who is also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, created the program to teach safety techniques and self-defense maneuvers specifically to runners, walkers and athletes.
The one-hour workshop includes a presentation on techniques that can be used during an assault and a hands-on coaching session to practice maneuvers and ways to escape a dangerous situation. The workshop is offered free for participants thanks to title sponsor Asics.
Two workshops will be offered to the public after hours at the Fleet Feet Mount Pleasant store on Sept. 8, the first at 8:45 a.m. and the second at 7:15 p.m.
