Emergency crews responded to a single engine Cessna 150 plane crash at Mount Pleasant Regional Airport. Police and fire are on the scene. According to witness, Joe Bustos, a pilot, he watched the plane struggling to get into the air. Bustos said the pilot turned around to come back and the plane nose dived into the ground.

Bustos said the plane was new to the airport but it is not known who was inside. Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Ken Glasson said that officials have notified him that two people are deceased.

The Post and Courier is reporting that a 20-year-old man and an instructor were on a training flight before noon Thursday when their airplane crashed near Mount Pleasant Regional Airport, according to an official from the company that holds the aircraft’s registration.

The plane was registered to Hanger Aviation Inc. of Johns Island, the Post and Courier learned.

Clark Hanger, a partner with the company, said the Cessna had been on loan for two weeks to a 20-year-old man and a flight instructor from Mount Pleasant. Hanger told the Post and Courier he did not know of their specific plans Thursday other than they were taking a training flight.
