Local sailors flock to Hobcaw for Mount Pleasant Junior Regatta

Nearly 50 local youth sailors competed in the 10th annual Mount Pleasant Junior Regatta at Hobcaw Yacht Club last weekend.

This year’s regatta featured 12 420s, two Lasers, five Opti White fleets, five Opti Blue fleets, one Opti Red fleet and 11 Opti Green fleets.

Several sailors were able to participate in their first regatta thanks to Hobcaw Yacht Club providing boats in this year’s competition. Other area yacht clubs provided boats as well.

Peter Buyck and Hunter Moore finished first in the 420 class. Lucas Sawin earned first place in the Laser Class. Cosmo Massoglia took first in the Green Class. Ben Labarca won the Blue Class and Opti Fleet. Claire Fontanella won the Red Class and Zack Carajac won the White Class.
