The Heroes for Fire Victims campaign is a way for the community – individuals, businesses, clubs and civic groups – to support a family that has lost everything to a home fire. The Red Cross is the only social service organization at the scene of residential fires providing the immediate emergency relief of temporary shelter, financial assistance for food and clothing, and other related needs. It costs the Red Cross $1,275 to assist a family of four.

With the help of Heroes for Fire Victims, the Red Cross was able to assist nearly 200 families affected by home fires in the Lowcountry last year.

On July 30, some of these heroes in Mount Pleasant were presented plaques recognizing them for their support of fire victims.
