Check out these events and classes taking place the Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center during the month of Semptember.
Wolfman Rob conducts red wolf discussions and feedings on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to noon, and Thursdays 3-4 p.m.
Turtles and Alligators – Kids, come and learn all about turtles and alligators. Call the center at 843-928-3368 to register for this free program.
Campfire S’mores and Moonrise Refuge Paddle – Enjoy paddling from the edge of the Francis Marion Forest to Awendaw Creek. As the moon rises over Cape Romain Refuge, participants enjoy S’mores. Suitable for beginners ages 4 and up. Kayaks will be provided as part of the fee. For more information, cost and reservations call Nature Adventures Outfitters at 843-568-3222.
Makin’ Paper and Learning the Three R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) – Kids learn not only how to make paper, but the importance of recycling. Call the center at 843-928-3368 to register for this free program.
Cape Romain Lighthouse Tour – Join Coastal Expeditions for a tour with a local historian to view the 1827 and 1857 lighthouses on Lighthouse Island. Wilderness Explorer Jr. Ranger Program – Learn about local wilderness areas, who was here before us, and go on a short forest walk. Call the center at 843-928-3368 to register for this free program.
Endangered Species – Learn about local and international endangered species like the red wolf, elephant and turtles. See illegal wildlife products and learn the difference between illegal and legal wildlife items. Call the center at 843-928-3368 to register for this free program.
