Junior League announces new community partners and projects

The Junior League of Charleston, Inc. is pleased to announce their new community partners and projects for the 2014-2015 league year. The Junior League of Charleston (JLC) pairs trained volunteers with these organizations, in order to fulfill their focus area of combating hunger and homelessness throughout the Lowcountry. In addition to providing thousands of volunteer hours, the JLC will also provide more than $55,000 in coordinated funding to these organizations.

Community project applications for the 2015-2016 league year are due by Friday, Sept. 5. Please visit the JLC's website, Community Impact section for an application and instructions. Interested organizations are also invited to a Community Partners Breakfast on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 8-9:00 a.m. at Another Broken Egg Café, downtown Charleston. A light breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Please RSVP to office@jlcharleston.org or 843-763-5248.

In 2014-2015, the JLC will serve the tri-county area by collaborating with the following nonprofit organizations to combat hunger and homelessness:

Communities in School of the Charleston Area, Lowcountry Food Bank, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, MUSC Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, Pet Helpers, Fields to Families, Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center, I Heart Hungry Kids and East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
