PCA volleyball takes eighth at PRTC tourney

Palmetto Christian volleyball placed eighth overall out of 25 teams in the 2014 Palmetto Rural Telephone Co-op Volleyball Kickoff Tournament last weekend at Colleton Prep Academy in Walterboro.

The Lady Eagles finished third in the Silver Division, advancing to the second round of the playoffs with a 25-21, 25-13 opening-round sweep of Beufort. Palmetto Christian was eliminated in three sets in the second round by Orangeburg Prep, 20-25, 25-20, 13-15.

The Lady Eagles opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over First Presbyterian in round-robin play. They went on to tie Battery Creek, 1-1, and beat Colleton Prep, 2-0, before falling to Fort Dorchester in two sets.

Palmetto Christian finished 5-3 in its round robin to earn the No. 4 seed in the Silver Division.
