Long known as a Lowcountry builder specializing in quality, affordable, entry-level starter homes, Rex Thompson Homes of Charleston has announced that effective immediately the name of the company will change to Palmetto Signature Homes.

Palmetto Signature Homes will build on the proud Rex Thompson tradition of experience and integrity; however, its focus will be expanded to include a larger, semi-custom product that offers homebuyers more flexibility in both construction and design.

Palmetto Signature Homes is currently building its newest home design in the Oaks at Indigo off Dorchester Road in the Summerville/North Charleston area, with 2,500- to 3,400-square-foot homes.

Dixon Hughes Goodman

Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP was recently named as one of the “Best Places to Work in South Carolina.” This ninth annual program was created by S.C. Biz News in partnership with the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and Best Companies Group.

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the state of South Carolina, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. The list is made up of 50 companies. Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP has been named one of this year’s “Best Places to Work in South Carolina,” with offices in Charleston, Summerville, Greenville and Spartanburg.

Blackbaud

Blackbaud, a leading global provider of software and services for nonprofits, has been named one of the 2014 “Best Places to Work in South Carolina” for a fifth consecutive year.

The “Best Places to Work in South Carolina” is sponsored by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Best Companies Group and SCBIZ, and is dedicated to identifying and recognizing the state’s most innovative employers by evaluating companies’ achievements in employee engagement and satisfaction.

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Blackbaud has more than 2,800 employees globally with approximately 1,270 located in South Carolina and another 1,404 located in satellite offices throughout the United States and around the world — including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Ireland and the United Kingdom. SCRA Technology Ventures

SCRA Technology Ventures’ S.C. Launch today announced an investment in Moondog Animation Studio. The Charleston-based studio creates, fabricates and distributes top-quality computer generated animation content appealing to both adults and children. This is the first round of S.C. Launch funding for the company.

Moondog Animation is starting development of their first feature film which will bring over 150 highly technical jobs to South Carolina. They are partnering with Clemson University’s Digital Design program to hire recent graduates.

Moondog Animation’s CEO Bryan Ransom stated, “We are excited to be a part of the S.C. Launch program and look forward to increasing high-tech jobs in Charleston.”

Home Care Assistance

Home Care Assistance of Charleston, a leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is proud to welcome Sheryl O’Neal as the office’s director of client services. Dunhill Staffing Systems

Jack Beabout, account manager and recruiter with Dunhill Staffing Systems has completed the requirements to receive his certification as a Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist (CTS). This designation offered by the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) is earned by study and examination on topics including ethics, business practices, credit compliance and federal and state employment law. Beabout, a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, previously earned his MBA at Charleston Southern University. Jack joined Dunhill Staffing Systems in 2005.
