CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The former chief executive officer of the Panama Canal Authority is scheduled to visit the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Alberto Alemán Zubieta is set to speak on Friday to MBA students at the School of Business at the College of Charleston.
During his talk, Zubieta will discuss the expansion of the canal and world trade.
The $5.25 billion expansion project will allow the canal to handle a new generation of larger container ships. But problems with work stoppages and cost overruns have pushed the completion of the canal expansion back from this October to at least December 2015.
