  • Monday, September 1, 2014

Sept. 11 marks the 25th anniversary of Our Lady of Mercy Outreach's service to the communities of James, Johns and Wadmalaw Islands, and downtown Charleston.

The outreach was established by the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy in 1989. Since 1989, the organization has encouraged and supported self-sufficiency by providing a variety of services to the people in need. Today, the outreach provides a wide array of services in the areas of education, wellness and outreach.

Their many educational programs include afterschool, GED preparation, English as a second language, and budgeting.

The organization offers many classes such as yoga and cooking that encourage fitness and good nutrition while building community connections.
