Bishop England and Wando both finished in the top four of the Gold Division of the Porter-Gaud Volleyball Invitational last weekend in Charleston.

Bishop England (6-3) earned second, falling in two sets to St. Joseph's in the Gold Division championship match. Wando (6-2) finished tied for fourth, rebounding from an opening-round loss to St. Joseph's with a two-set win over Boiling Springs.

The Lady Bishops finished 5-1 in pool play, while the Warriors went 6-0 to both earn bids into the Gold Division.

Bishop England opened bracket play with a 2-1 win over Nation Ford. After falling behind with a 23-25 loss in the opening set, the Bishops took the next two sets and the match, 25-19, 15-13.

First Baptist and first-year head coach Cole Dawley, a former Bishop England star, awaited the Bishops in the semifinal round. Bishop England won a tight match 25-20, 25-22. First Baptist is already showing major improvement under Dawley, rising to semifinal runner-ups after finishing tied for 11th in last season's tournament.

Wando took the first set of its opening match against St. Joseph's, 25-17, but dropped the next two, 23-25, 11-15. The Warriors picked up a two-set win over Boiling Springs, 25-15, 25-17, to jump back into a tie for fourth.

Wando senior hitter Daley Gosnell racked up 65 digs and 52 kills over the weekend to earn All-Tournament honors. Junior hitter Montana Swanson and junior setter Victoria Boals were both named All-Tournament from Bishop England.

Bishop England and Wando will square off Wednesday on Daniel Island in the first non-tournament match of the season for both teams.
