Wager named new ‘beertender’ at Laura Alberts on Daniel Island

Laura Alberts Tasteful Options on Daniel Island  recently announced the addition of their new “beer-tender” James Wager.

Wager is a graduate of West Virginia University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

He moved to South Carolina from Chicago a year ago, where he was active in many Chicago beer groups. Wager has been in to craft beer since 2001 and his appreciation of the beverage led him into a homebrewing three years ago.

He is an active member of the Lowcountry Libations homebrew club and has won awards in many brewing competitions.

Wager brings his expertise to Laura Alberts to enhance the patron’s experience by assisting with customers selections and questions, hosting the weekly Growler hour from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesdays and planning monthly beer dinners with guest brewers that include all you can drink happy hours and tastefully prepared entrees. Private craft beer tastings are available for events and parties.

Ann Whalen

Coldwell Banker United, Realtors®  announced that Ann Whalen has joined the company as its Mount Pleasant branch manager and broker-in-charge. Whalen has excelled in the real estate business for more than a decade.

Whalen has been a brokerage manager for the past six years. She also is very active in the real estate community as a member of Charleston Board of Realtors, member of MLS board of directors, member of Broker Society, co-chair of Code Read, former chair of Grievance Committee and member of Professional Standards Committee.

Book of the Year

The Foundation for Coast Guard History announced its annual book awards.

The Morris Island Lighthouse: Charleston’s Maritime Beacon by Douglas W. Bostick was awarded “2009 Book of Year” for the lighthouse category.

Bostick, historian and former executive director of Save the Light, presents the history of the Morris Island Lighthouse, which has served the citizens of South Carolina for three centuries. He recounts the stories of the many lightkeepers and their families who braved meager provisions, low pay and grueling conditions living on a small island at the entrance to Charleston harbor. Bostick is the author of twelve books.

Glasspro

JoAnn Holley has recently joined Glasspro, Inc. as an internal sales representative in the company’s  Customer Call Center. Holley’s responsibilities include telephone follow-up, order processing and scheduling, and customer service.

Prior to joining Glasspro, Holley was in the customer service department at Blackbaud.
