Mr. and Mrs. David Thompson of Mount Pleasant announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Lewis Thompson to Mitchell Ross Feld of Charlotte, N.C., son of Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Feld of Charlotte, N.C.

Thompson is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lewis of Centerville, Ohio and the late Leroy and Nola Thompson of Chillicothe, Ohio. Thompson earned a BFA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and an MST from Pace University in New York while participating in the New York City Teaching Fellows Program.

Thompson completed her Juris Doctor degree at the Charleston School of Law in May 2011. She served as the President of the International Law Society, and graduated with over 500 hours of pro bono service to her community.

She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a member of the Charleston Junior League.

Feld is the grandson of Annette and Bernard Schuller of Boynton Beach, Florida, the late Leonard Hecht of Buffalo, New York and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Illfelder of Utica, N. Y. Mr. Feld graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business and with Honors in Government and Law for his research on U.S. Supreme Court Justices. In 2008, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami. In law school, he was President of Honor Council and was a member of the Society of Bar & Gavel - honorary society for leadership. Feld is a defense attorney for the Council for Children's Rights in Charlotte, N.C.

The wedding is planned for November 20, 2011 at the Creek Club in I'On.
