Anna Brice Derrick of Columbia, S.C. and Benjamin Terrell Smith of Charleston, S.C. were married Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Northside Baptist Church in West Columbia. The was officiated by Reverend Doctor George D. Crow, III. A reception followed at the Riverbanks Botanical Gardens.
The bride, daughter of Ms. Kelley Stewart Derrick of Irmo and Mr. David Larry Derrick, Jr. of Edisto Island, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Stewart of Columbia, and Mr. and Mrs. David L. Derrick, Sr. of West Columbia. She earned a BS in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and is a Registered Nurse.
The groom, son of Dr. and Mrs. Sidney Terrell Smith of Columbia, is the grandson of Mrs. Doris Legaré Dayhoff of Mount Pleasant and the late Harry E. Dayhoff; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Rogers T. Smith of Bowman. He earned a BA in Political Science from Mississippi State University. He is currently obtaining a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The maid of honor was Meagan Leigh Derrick, sister of the bride. The matron of honor was Marissa Fann Hill, lifelong friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Smith Darrah, sister of the groom, Leah House Davis, Courtney Alvarez Henry, and Ashley Elaine Norris.
The junior bridesmaid was Breah Kennady Riddle, cousin of the bride. Honorary bridesmaids were Danielle Steele Aaron, Aja Mangum Klosterman, Mary Elaine Mungo, and Anna Ross Sheely.
Dr. Sidney Terrell Smith, father of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Emit Chase Atwood, Robert William Gregg, William Richard Harding, Thomas Blakely Miller, Adam William Mitchell, and Craig Walters Smith, cousin of the groom. The ring bearer was Master Blake Timothy Koon, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Sam Ferrell Alman, Jr., Patrick William Daddabbo, and James William Weaver.
After a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple has made their home in Charleston.
