Rebecca Grace Taylor of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Michael Casimer McNerney of Charlotte, North Carolina, were married on March 12, 2010 at The Landing at Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The Reverend Kenneth Lee performed the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Paul Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Basil E. Gordon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert C. Taylor, Sr., all of Mount Pleasant. Rebecca graduated cum laude from Clemson University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Legal Studies. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina in 2007. She is employed as an Assistant Solicitor for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, York and Union Counties.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a silk embroidered crinkle chiffon gown with a draped elongated torso and A-line skirt. Dendrobium orchids adorned her hair.
Her bouquet of roses, calla lilies, hydrangeas, willow twigs, covered buttons, seeded eucalyptus, and variegated lily grasses incorporated an heirloom handkerchief handmade by the grandmother of the groom and carried by the mother of the groom in her wedding 48 years ago.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Albert McNerney of Lewiston, New York. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casimer Stybak and the late Mr. Florence McNerney and Mrs. Margaret Collins, all of Niagara Falls, New York. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration with a Minor in Gerontology from Ithaca College in New York. He is employed by Wells Fargo as a Financial Consultant.
Mr. John Clay Taylor, brother of the bride, was her attendant. Mr. Michael Albert McNerney was best man for his son. Nicholas Gordon Black, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer for the occasion. Nicholas carried the ring bearer's pillow in a heart pine box built by the bride's father. Mrs. Clara Richardson, a very special friend of the bride's family, sat beside the mother of the bride.
A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at Gilligans Seafood Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. The couple honeymooned in the Arenal area of Costa Rica and will reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, with their dogs, Gibbs, Aspen, and Lacy.
