Certified in common sense

Two women employed by a service that cares for the elderly in their homes, had a little falling out one day at their client’s house.

One of the women arrived two hour early to take a little nap before her shift started. She went to sleep and after a while the second care giver woke the first care giver and said it was time for her to come on duty. She awoke and went straight in to check on her elderly client. What she found was a bed soaked with urine.

She ran after the first caregiver and told her she was not leaving this lady in this condition.

She responded by saying the wetness was a little bit of water and and she’d blotted it up with a towel.

However caregiver number two was not buying this since the bed was soaking wet. She told her she needed to change the sheets and that it wasn’t right to leave this lady like this.

The argument ensued and they slapped each other around a bit, until caregiver number one finally left, but not before telling caregiver number two that she was an angry woman and didn’t know what she was talking about because she wasn’t certified.

Caregiver number two pulled the sheets off the bed and called the cops.

When the officer arrived she clearly saw that the bed was soaked with urine as was the floor.

Caregiver number two said she wanted to press charges for assault and was told to come to the station to sign the warrant and have photographs taken of her bruising and swelling.

Setting a good example

A woman brought her kid to baseball practice and came across a soccer ball in the middle of the street and had her son jump out of the car and kick the ball out of the way so no one would run it over. He did, but kicked it towards the volleyball court.

This didn’t sit too well with the dad who was on the soccer field practicing with his kids. He was appalled that the kid would kick the ball away form them when they were the ones who were using it.

He ran off the field towards her son and yelled at him, demanding to know how he would like it if he treated his equipment that way. Setting a great example for all to see,  this dad knocked the kids pitcher’s mask to the ground and walked back to his own kids.

Well mom wasn’t putting up with this kind of treatment towards her kid. She got back in her car, drove to the soccer field and called police.

The officer arrived and spoke to the dad who was conducting soccer drills with his kids.

Dad said he was mad that the kid kicked the ball in the opposite direction of the soccer field.

He went on to indicate that his behavior was inappropriate and wrong and he shouldn’t have gotten upset with the kid or his mom.

He apologized to the family and said he had no intention of harming the kid or his mom.

The officer counseled the dad on his actions and about setting a good example for his sons who watched the incident unfold. He said he understood and as embarrassed by the incident. He promised that nothing like this would ever happen again.

Was my fault?

A horrible accident took place at the intersection of Planter’s Pointe and Highway 41 last weekend. A young driver did not see the stop sign at the exit to the neighborhood and went barreling across Highway 41, right into the path of a car with two women in it. This caused the women’s car to strike the rear of his car, spin off the road and slam into a tree.

But the young boy driving the car took off, never stopping to see if the women were okay.

Two men at the Planter’s Pointe Pool, one an off duty fire fighter and one an off duty police officer, heard the loud noise the crash made and took off towards the scene.

Police also arrived a short time later and despite the large number of people who had gathered at the scene, no one had actually witnessed the wreck.

One of the officers was handling paperwork while EMS tended to the two women. Out of no where four boys came walking up to the scene, surveyed the wreckage and walked away.

Several minutes later a guy comes up to the officer and told him he knew who was driving the other vehicle and he would take him to the car. He told the officer that the suspect called his mother right after the wreck but since she was on a cruise she couldn’t get there so she tried to reach her husband but was unsuccessful. She then decided to call this man and have him respond to the scene in their place.

They drove to the suspect’s home and surveyed the damaged vehicle. It was quite obvious that this was their suspect’s car.

In the meantime the suspect and his father arrived at the  crash site.

He explained to officers that he was not familiar with the neighborhood and did not see the stop sign. He said right after the wreck occurred he drove into the Gates subdivision, checked the damage on his car, called his mother and drove home.

He then got some friends together and walked up to the scene. He told the officer he was not sure if the wreck he and his buddies came to see had anything to do with him which is why he didn’t stop to talk to any of the seven officers who were on the scene.

The boy was arrested for disregarding a stop sign and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

Slummin’ it

A property owner who leased out a piece of residential  investment property was stuck in a civil dispute with a former tenant that did not agree with her decision to withhold his security deposit.

Rather than handling the matter through the court system, he chose to harass the hell out of this woman until she finally called police. She told the officer that the former tenant called her nine times and sent one text message that called her “a lying, immoral thief of a slumlord.” Another voicemail said “I will not just roll over and let you steal from me.”

She asked the officer to demand that this man leave her alone and not contact her anymore. The man agreed to do so, and the woman was told not to contact him either.

Parent of the year

A group of neighbors came across a three year old little boy roaming the neighborhood once again.

This child has been seen on numerous occasions, walking the streets with no parent in sight.

The neighbors know this child nd where he lives and are concerned about his well-being and the lack of supervision given to him by his father.

They called police and pointed him in the direction of the child’s home.

The front door to the house was wide open and an empty beer bottle was on the ground by the door. The officer called out to the occupants and there was no response, and after a couple of tries, a man comes walking bleary-eyed down the steps. It appeared he had just woken up.

He was told his kid was cruising down the street alone and he said he had no idea the boy had gotten out. He explained that he and his girlfriend had ben sleeping and didn’t hear him get out.

He admitted that this had happened once before but they thought they had corrected the problem.

While talking to the father and his girlfriend about the seriousness of the problem, the officer conducted a visual inspection of the house which appeared quite lived in. The rugs were filthy and crackers were crunched up in the high chair from a previous sitting. There were empty beer bottles all over the counter a hole in the kitchen wall where someone had punched through the sheet rock.

The office left the couple with a stern warning.

On his way out of the neighborhood he was flagged down by the concerned neighbors who told him the child had been outside alone for hours and they took him into custody in an attempt to find a family member before calling police. One woman said the kid roams freely on a regular basis and when she walks him home and rings the doorbell, the father just ignores the situation.

During one incident, the property management company had to open the door with a master key when the child had gotten up because the father was sleeping so heavily he didn’t hear them knocking.

Based on what the officer saw and heard, he contacted DSS to start an investigation.
