that appeared to have been in a wreck. The driver of the car was at the
wheel, but fast asleep. The officer knocked on the car window to wake
sleeping beauty, but he didn’t budge.
The officer opened the door and even shook his arm before he finally came to.
The man could not recall where his driver’s license was.
So, the officer felt in his pockets for a wallet and sure enough there it was.
Again the officer asked for his ID.
This time, the man responded, “Mount Plea-sant was in his wallet.”
When asked where he was going, the man replied, “right here.” He was quite confused and could hardly stand up straight.
The officer then asked how much he had to drink, to which he said two
or three beers and denied being involved in a wreck when questioned.
The officer walked him to the front of his car and showed him the damage.
He replied, “I didn’t do that.”
However, he quite clearly did it.
The officer arrested him for Public Intoxication. Another officer
eventually found the accident scene, which turned out was a tree
nearby.
Parts of the man’s car was strewn about the area. He declined medical attention and was taken to jail.
