Jumped by the bouncers
Friday, July 03, 2009

A fight broke out in the parking lot of a local bar. The patron told police he was simply trying to leave when out of nowhere, he was jumped by the bouncers. This usually doesn't happpen for no

reason, so officers started doing some questioning.

The bouncers told police that the man walked in smoking a cigarette. One of the bouncers told him he needed to take the cigarette outside. The man refused and was politely asked two more times

to do so. At that point, the other bouncer came over and told him he needed to leave. He wouldn't budge so they gave him a hand and started to escort him out of the bar. They finally got him

outside but the patron fell on an entrance step. The bouncers reached down and tried to help the guy up but one of them got punched in the face by the patron. Kindly, the bouncer declined to

press charges and said he just wanted the man removed from the property for the evening.

However, the man was extremely drunk so officers decided to help remove him from the property. Police took him to jail for disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. Then he became bellierant.

He taunted the officer on the way to the jail, refused to answer question at the detention center and refused to get out of the car to be processed.  Then he leaned back like he was going to kick the

officer. Once that ruckus was over they started walking into the jail but the man kept trying to pull away. And falling back on the techniques taught at the Police Academy on how to escort a

prisoner, the officer grabbed the handcuff chain and the man's arm and gave him a quick lesson in following orders. He was finally booked for the night, with the officer getting the last word.

What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
