Late night dip
Friday, July 16, 2010

An officer came upon the Park West pool after it had closed and saw cars still in the parking lot. He parked his car and started walking around the pool and saw four girls sitting around a table with several beers in front of them. There were eight boys - some lounging on the edge of the pool and some swimming. And strangely there was pool deck furniture actually in the pool.

He went inside the pool gate and started questioning everyone as to why they were still at the pool three hours after it had closed. No one could provide a logical explanation so he ordered everyone to clean up the mess. About this same time one of the parents came to the pool to pick up her child. It just happened to be the officer’s former neighbor. While this officer was talking to the parent, some of the kids started slipping out and leaving the pool.

One kid, however did not make a run for it so the officer asked him if the two coolers left behind were his. He said they were not so the officer opened them and found vodka.

Oddly enough, even though the kids had left the area, they left behind their cars. He started writing down license plate number and glancing inside each car. Inside one car was another bottle of vodka and wouldn’t you know it, that car belonged to the boy still at the pool. The boy at that point decided to tell the truth and admitted that he had stolen the booze from dear old dad. The office told him he would need to call a parent to come get him. He had to face the music when his dad showed up and they left, the boy with a underage ticket in hand.
