No right on red
Tuesday, August 17, 2010

an officer watched a driver late one night approach an intersection and turn right on red even when the sign clearly said not to. He pulled the driver over and asked for her driver's license. when she pulled out her credit card and handed it to the officer, he knew what he was up against.

She then had a hard time gathering the other paperwork he asked for. when he asked her if she knew why he had pulled her she said she did not. So he proceeded to explain to her that she ran the light. She denied running the light but told the officer she believed him if he said she did it.

The officer asked her if she been drinking and she said she got off work a little after 5 p.m. and went to a friend's house. She said she had a hard day so she had a glass of wine while she was there.

The officer asked her if she had any idea it was at that moment and she guessed 10:30 p.m. however it was 1:30 a.m.

The officer asked her to step out of the car and he again asked her if she knew why she was being pulled over. she said he already told her she ran a stop sign but she didn't know how that could be since she never does stuff like that and always stops for two seconds before going through a stop sign. The officer reminded her that she was being pulled for running a stop light. She said, "yea okay but I don't think I ran it." so he asked her once more how much she had to drink and this time it changed to a half of bottle of wine that she split with her friend.

He asked her to do some field sobriety tests and she asked, 'do I have to? I don't want to fail them." He asked her why she would not want to do the tests and she said, "if I fail you will just take me to jail and I can't afford that."

Then she said, "actually just take me to jail now. That would be better than taking the tests."

The officer insisted it would be in her best interest to continue with the tests but she insisted on going to jail because she was going to fail and she would be heading there anyway.

The cop was able to convince her to do the tests but made her do the alphabet test again when she did it almost right the first time. The second time she really messed it up.

She did several other tests and failed those and then asked to do the alphabet test a third time and messed it up again. she stopped and looked at the officer when she got to letter V and said she couldn't think of anymore letters.

She said she thought she had a feeling she was going to jail and she was right.
