Smile in Voice Printer Friendly Version | 0 comment(s)
Do you know how to put a smile in your voice? Putting a smile in your voice is more important than most people realize and is very often overlooked. It is a powerful tool for being approachable in person, as well as on the telephone. Putting a smile in your voice is accomplished by putting a smile on your face. I often make the suggestion of the idea I heard one time about putting a small mirror on your telephone to help remind you to do so. The one I use says “reflect on this.” Always remember, the smile is a simple, yet powerful gesture of positive expression. Do you know what the most important factor when you are trying to persuade someone to see things your way is? Studies at Yale University show that the most important factor in determining whether you impress others favorably when you are trying to come across as persuasive is how often you smile. Nothing else carries as much weight. So forget that stern tone of voice or the stomping of your foot. When you want things to go your way, just smile, often as you are speaking. A smile, much to the surprise of some, is one of the most positive powerful gestures we own. The only negative thing about a smile, is its lack of use. So smile, speak positively about yourself, even before you open your mouth.
