Tennyson Art School Show for MUSC Wellness Center Printer Friendly Version | 0 comment(s)
The 2nd annual Art Connects Us Art School show will be held at the MUSC Wellness Center Gallery during the coming month of May. Work by over 50 students of the husband/wife team of Dianne Tennyson and Eric Vincent will be on display with part of the proceeds raised from sales going to benefit the MUSC Storm Eye Center and their “Fight for Sight” organization created by Center interns to provide eye care for indigent patients. Tennyson and Vincent are working artists with over 30 years each of professional experience. Tennyson was a former MUSC OR nurse before completing her degree in studio art and earning her MAT. She is a registered art therapist and taught in the public school system for nine years before expanding her art school. Her work is shown in several local galleries and she speaks frequently on the therapeutic power of art therapy while maintaining a private therapy practice. Trained as a zoologist, Vincent has worked in advertising as an art director, illustrator and radio and TV producer since he finished his degree in graphic design. His illustrative work has been shown by the New York Society of Illustrators while his children’s book, cut paper and sculptural illustrations have won national and international recognition. Tennyson and Vincent concentrate on the basics with their students, guiding them through a more traditional curriculum that stresses discipline, focus and the development of seeing and eye/hand coordination. Tennyson teaches drawing and oil and pastel painting, while Vincent offers instruction in drawing, cartooning and sculpture. The opening reception for the show will be from 6-8 p.m., May 8.
“Kirsten, Ethan and Noah Taylor enjoy expressing their creative abilities.”
“Elisabeth Ashcraft works on an oil pastel still life.”
“John Henry Tecklenberg works with instructor Dianne Tennyson.” Comments
