Support Group

What: The East Cooper Dementia Caregiver Education and Support Group

When: Dec. 16. from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Where: All Saints Lutheran Church, 2107 Hwy. 17 North, Mt. Pleasant.

Details:  Caregivers gather to give and receive support regarding the challenges they face, as well as the rewards they receive, while providing care for their loved one.

Holiday Musical

What: A holiday musical benefit sponsored by Sprinkles Entertainment - partial proceeds to benefit the Low Country's Children With Aids

When: Dec. 18-20. Begins at 8 p.m. Friday and Sunday; 3 p.m. on Sunday

Where: Broadway Performing Arts Black Box Theatre, 607-A Johnnie Dodds Blvd. Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464

Live Nativity

What: Live Nativity

When: 5 p.m., Sunday Dec. 20,

Where: Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Sullivan's Island at Breech Inlet

Details: Nativity shows each half hour. The final show begins at 7 p.m. Witness the Nativity Story complete with the Holy Family, live animals to see and pet, and a choir singing carols.  After the show, come inside for hot cocoa and cookies.

Visit Santa

What: Children ages 6 and under and their families are invited to the visit Santa event

When: 12 p.m., Dec.18

Where: G.M. Darby Building, located at 302 Pitt Street in the Old Village neighborhood of Mount Pleasant.

Details:  Children will enjoy Christmas music, games, crafts, face painting and, of course, a visit with Santa himself. A photo will be provided, as well as free snacks for children. This event is free of charge.

Blue Christmas

What: St. Mark's Lutheran Church is offering a Blue Christmas Service

When: 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20

Where:, 300 Palm, Blvd., Isle of Palms

Details: The service, including communion, is for anyone who is ill or grieving or who has reason not to be merry in spirit during the holidays.

Guys and Dolls

What: The 40-member East Cooper Community Chorus' 2010 spring season of Broadway, spiritual, and patriotic hits.

When:  1:30-3 p.m. Thursday afternoons

Where: Eastbridge Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant

Details:  No auditions. All singers welcome. Ability to read music a plus, but not required.  You just need the ability to sing in tune and learn SATB music, a love of singing, and a willingness to blend your voice with others. Current members include professionals and retirees, with music experience ranging from church choirs to symphony, men's and barbershop choruses.

National Marine Corps

What: National Marine Corps Business Network, Charleston Chapter

When: 11;30 a.m. - 1 p.m., meets on the second Tuesday of each month

Where: Sticky Fingers, 341 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. Mt. Pleasant.

Details: As a member, not only will you expand your opportunities both personal and professional, you will interact with fellow Marines who have the same level of integrity and commitment to excellence you demand of yourself.

Wando Theater

What: Department will present a showcase of Drama I students.

When: Tuesday, Dec.  15, and Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7 pm in the Wando High School Black Box Theater.

Details: Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door. The showcase features scenes from 'Will and Whimsy,' dramatizing 10 favorite Shakespearean sonnets.

How do you feel about Mount Pleasant Town Council looking into regulating cell phone usage while driving?
Yes, talking and texting while driving is dangerous and should be outlawed.
