Caitlin Armstrong, Scott Forget and Walker Prince from Wando High School in Mount Pleasant took second place in the 2010 Capitol Hill Challenge (CHC). Representing U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, the three students competed against 1,060 other teams around the country. The students were coached by teacher Ray McGrath.
Armstrong, Forget and Prince were honored with an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., for a tour of the nation's capitol and a meeting with Sen. DeMint. In addition, the students received certificates of recognition for their accomplishment.
The Capitol Hill Challenge organizers partnered high school teams playing the Stock Market Game with their local members of Congress.
In this version, instead of competing against other teams in their state, the CHC teams competed against teams sponsored by their U.S. Senators or Representatives around the country. During the 14-week competition, high school students from Georgia to Missouri to Arizona participated.
Wando High teacher Ray McGrath said he feels the Stock Market Game is good education tool.
