Kronsberg family establishes memorial scholarship fund for Trident Literacy
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Trident Literacy Association is the beneficiary of the Avram Kronsberg, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund of Coastal Community Foundation.

The Avram Kronsberg, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund of Coastal Community Foundation was established in January to provide grants to Trident Literacy Association's scholarship fund. The Fund, which was established by Edward Kronsberg and family, is designated for Trident Literacy Association to honor the dedication in service Avram Kronsberg offered to the nonprofit during his lifetime.

Avram Kronsberg Jr. was a long-time volunteer and then staff member for Trident Literacy. He was dedicated to helping adult students improve their reading and writing skills, prepare for the GED, and gain self-respect and confidence. A Charleston native, Kronsberg died August 9, 2009.

Thousands of families, businesses, individuals and organizations have built over 550 individual funds and endowments at the Foundation to benefit specific charities and/or broad areas of community life - education, basic human needs, conservation and preservation, arts, health and neighborhood/community development. In its 36-year history, Coastal Community Foundation has awarded more than $98.5 million in grants and currently manages assets in excess of $130 million.

Last year, Foundation funds generated over $12.3 million for charitable programming, community projects, educational initiatives and scholarships. To learn more, go to: www.coastalcommunityfoundation.org. For more information call 747-2223.
