Sophomore Ben Diebold from Wando High School, was honored at the annual Ambassadors of Economic Development Awards Ceremony during Industry Appreciation Week. Ben was saluted for being named a 2010 Young Entrepreneur by the SC Council on Economic Education (SCCEE).

Honored along with Ben were Dorchester 2 students Ashlynn Russo, a sixth-grader at Rollings Middle School of the Arts, and Jade-Alexis Smith, a seventh-grader at Alston Middle School. Kate Brady, a seventh-grader at Wren Middle School in Anderson District 1 was also recognized.

The Young Entrepreneur award, sponsored by the SC Research Authority and SC Launch, was established in 2004 by SCCEE as a way to recognize outstanding students for their accomplishments in entrepreneurship. The students will be honored again in late April at SCCEE's annual awards luncheon and receive a $200 cash prize.

The SC Council on Economic Education is a non-profit business-education partnership dedicated to providing teachers with the tools and resources needed to educate South Carolina's students about financial literacy, economic principles, and the changing global economy. To learn more about other resources provided by SCCEE, go to www.sceconomics.org.
