Provost Academy to offer extended year schooling
Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Provost Academy, South Carolina's free online public high school, will offer extended year education, which began July 1.

This new option is being offered for students who would like to accelerate their education or for those who need additional time to complete assignments.

"Flexibility is one of the key benefits of online learning," said Dr. Darrell Johnson, executive director of Provost Academy. "Extending the school year to meet the individual needs of our students was an obvious step to take."

Dr. Johnson noted that Provost Academy boasts many accelerated students - including five who were recently inducted into the National Honor Society, "who yearn for an educational experience throughout the entire year."

"We treat our students as young adults. We provide them with the tools and flexibility they need to succeed, and we allow them to choose the course that best applies to their needs and capabilities," Dr. Johnson said.

Provost Academy South Carolina is a state-authorized public online school that is free of charge to residents of South Carolina and offers high school students the public school choice of an engaging, adaptable and quality online learning experience.

Students work toward their regular public high school diploma - recognized by colleges and employers - as they would in a traditional school, but in the convenient, safe environment of their own home through computer-based educational programs.

Provost Academy is currently enrolling students for the upcoming school year. Parents and students seeking more information about PASC, how to enroll, or when the Community Outreach Directors will be in their area should visit the website: www.sc.provostacademy.com, or call: (877) 265-3195 toll free.

Provost Academy South Carolina is an Online Public High School serving grades nine to 12. PASC is uniquely designed to offer a challenging and flexible education option for students who want or need something different from traditional high schools.

PASC is the only Online High School in South Carolina backed by EdisonLearning, the nation's largest partner to public school districts and communities, with nearly 20 years of proven experience driving academic results in the K-12 classroom.
