(Each month every administrator, faculty, or staff member has the opportunity to nominate a Golden Warrior at Wando High School. The student's administrator meets with the student and presents them with the Golden Warrior decal (placed on the student's ID card) as well as Warrior Bucks for use at the school store.

A call is made to the student's parent and a letter from Principal Lucy Beckham, is sent home. A few students nominated for more than one month, these students will join Principal Beckham for a special lunch at the end of the semester.)

Master of Music

Gregory Guay completed his B.F.A. in music in 2009 at College of Charleston under professor Marc Regnier, receiving departmental honors and awards for instrumental excellence in classical guitar performance. Guay has performed several times in both the Young Artist Series of Charleston's Piccolo Spoleto Festival and St. Luke's Recital Series, as well as regular recitals in the eastern U.S. He was a faculty member of Charleston Academy of Music for several years. Guay is a registered Suzuki Guitar Teacher and hopes to begin Charleston's first Suzuki Guitar School.

He is also a certified level I Orff teacher and loves to teach music through song, dance, and percussion to children. Gregory completed his Masters of Music in classical guitar performance under Dr. Douglas James at Appalachian State University in May 2011.

Boston University

Boston University awarded academic degrees to 1,517 students in September 2011.

Receiving degrees were Ryan A. Cox, Master of Science in international marketing management, and Kelly J. Eldridge, Master of Music in music education. Boston University is the fourth largest independent university in the United States, with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students in its 17schools and colleges. The university offers an exceptional grounding in the liberal arts, a broad range of programs in the arts, sciences, engineering, and professional areas, and state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research.

Honors choir

Christ Our King-Stella Maris School students Seth Dominiak, Helen Schertz and Brian Privett were recently nominated by middle school music teacher Suzanne Fleming Atwood to the Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association honors choir. They were chosen out of 1,200 students who applied for 500 available positions in one of the three honors choirs.

Maritime Academy

Sondra Ellen Skipper of Mount Pleasant graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine on April 30. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in vessel operations and technology. She is a 2008 graduate of Wando High School. She is the daughter of Walter and Cathy Skipper of Jamestown.
