The town of Mount Pleasant dedicated a new green space Saturday that will remain forever. The Waterworks Marshview Trail cover 57 acres on Rifle Range Rd right behind Mount Pleasant Waterworks. The land was dedicated  as a conservation easement, which means the land will be protected from development. Student government members from Whitesides participating were: Andrew Waddell,Camden Roller, Chris Swalhah, Cosette Geesey, Elizabeth Ivey, Enrico Capetanis, Riley Seay, Katie Casey, Melanie Clark, and Gokul Venkatesababa as well as teacher Kathryn Cavan and principal Lona Pounder. They joined Clay Duffey of the Waterworks, Conservancy director John Girault and board members, as well as town council representatives in the opening ceremony.

Whitesides' student government is genuinely committed to supporting conservation and recycling efforts. Student representatives were named honorary conservancy members.  They joyfully await the possibilities of expanding their classroom learning to the green space outside their classroom doors.
