Sylvan Dell Publishing awards educational resource grants to schools in SC
Monday, September 01, 2008
By Press Release

Children’s book publisher Sylvan Dell has passionately pursued its mission of “bringing science and math to children through literature.”

Now, they are reaching out to schools and school districts nationwide with an unprecedented educational resource grant offer, and South Carolina schools have already reaped the benefits.

The grant is for a free, one-year site license, providing unlimited access to all 35 Sylvan Dell eBooks, featuring flipviewer technology with selectable English and Spanish text and audio. The license can be used on all school computers and may be placed on secure school Web sites, enabling students and their families to log in and have access from their homes.

Grants will be awarded to one elementary school per district and are open to every district in Canada. To facilitate submission, individual schools may submit the grant application directly. When more than one school from a single district applies, Sylvan Dell will ask the district contact to make the selection.

An online grant application is available at: www.SylvanDellPublishing.com/ResourceGrant.htm.

The rapid response in South Carolina has been impressive. So far, the following local schools in the state have been awarded the Sylvan Dell Publishing educational resource grant:

•Trident Academy, Mount Pleasant

•Palmetto Christian Academy, Mount Pleasant.

What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
