Tie the knot in a Lowcountry style chapel

What could be more memorable and romantic than a wedding and reception in a country chapel near historic downtown Charleston?

Tidewater Chapel's experienced, friendly wedding professionals can take you through a step-by-step process, putting together a picture-perfect wedding.

The chapel and reception hall are graciously appointed with antiques, while utilizing the best in lighting, acoustics, ambience, and ease of service to your guests. And you can have your ceremony and reception at the same place!

Modeled on a 1709 Lowcountry wedding chapel, Charleston's Tidewater Wedding Chapel and Reception Hall have been designed for the perfect wedding.

Begin with your ceremony performed in the acoustically perfect chapel with perhaps a soloist in the balcony. Seating 100 guests on 200-year-old beautifully curved oak pews, the wedding chapel will lend magic as you walk down the aisle to the curved apse. Six windows, three to each side, have 24-inch deep window sills on which to display floral arrangements.

A staff of attractive officiants are well-dressed and articulate. You can choose from a male or female officiant for your ceremony. They can perform our ceremony or feel free to express yourself by writing your own vows.

After the ceremony, recess to the receiving garden to greet your guests in traditional Charleston style. Perhaps you'd like a symphony string trio playing light classical music as the guests wish you well then proceed into the main courtyard and reception hall. Consider your photographer capturing each couple as they enter the courtyard.

As guests move into the main courtyard, they'll be invited toward the bar where they may order refreshments served by professional bartenders, as the wait staff passes hors d'oeuvres while the photographer is finishing your traditional wedding photos.

Guests will mingle and chat and enjoy refreshments until you and your groom are able to join them in the beautifully appointed reception hall where a lavish buffet or a sit-down dinner will be waiting.

Music from the bandstand by either live musicians or personally selected favorites played by a local DJ will have the guests tapping their toes after dinner and ready to dance the night away on the dance floor in front of the band.

A classic Wurlitzer jukebox is available for your use, packed with old wedding favorites. For guests who would rather chat and catch up with old friends, the garden offers seating and beautiful night lighting to make sitting outside a pleasure. The covered gallery is especially attractive for conversation. (Our non-toxic insect repellant system assures there will be no biting gnats or mosquitoes.)

As you and your groom leave Tidewater Chapel to begin your life together, you'll know that your wedding day couldn't have been more perfect.
