Take a guided walking tour

In March, history enthusiast and Charleston native, Brian Simms, launched Charleston Sole, a guided walking tour company. Guests of Charleston Sole have the opportunity to join Simms for a unique two hour tour of the historic Holy City that includes an introduction to some of Charleston’s most celebrated landmarks and hidden gems.

Charleston Sole is targeted to visitors, both young and old, who are interested in learning about the history of one of the oldest cities in the US. Charleston Sole is ideal for groups and all tours can be customized to suit the interests of the group.

Simms begins his tours at his favorite spot, the Old Exchange Building on East Bay Street, and weaves his way through the streets and alleys of historic downtown. While passing some of the most famous sites in the city, Simms makes sure to point out lesser known, but equally impressive, historical buildings, facts and stories.  Stops along the way include such popular sights as St. Michael’s Church, Dock Street Theatre, Catfish Row, the Heyward-Washington House and the Four Corners of Law.

A self-proclaimed history buff, he developed his passion for all-things-Charleston while working in the local hospitality industry as a concierge, and decided to open Charleston Sole in order to share his knowledge and passion for Charleston with others.

Charleston Sole tours are offered twice a day, Monday—Saturday and by appointment at any other time. Tour prices are $18 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6 years old.
