01) Turkey Shoot

This East Cooper Outboard Motor Club’s (ECOMC) 60th annual Turkey Shoot fundraiser is back and it’s all for charity.

The fundraiser — running from Nov. 1 to Nov. 18 and Nov. 20 to Nov. 22, from 6-10 p.m. at Gold Bug Island, 1560 Ben Sawyer Blvd. in Mount Pleasant — is a fun, family-friendly event where safety is the organization's highest priority. Net proceeds from the turkey shoot and 100 percent of sponsor contributions go to the East Cooper Outboard Beneficent Group, Inc, (ECOBG), the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of the ECOMC. Monies raised support Lowcountry charitable groups that are committed to helping members of the local community who are homebound, disabled, living in poverty or abused. Many of these individuals have nowhere to turn. Funds will provide food, clothes, medical assistance, housing, schools, therapy, scholarships and more.

The ECOBG raised more than $59,000 in the 2022 fiscal year and $45,308 from the ECOMC turkey shoot proceeds. The ECOBG Board met and has approved donations to 13 Lowcountry charities in 2023, totaling $57,000. This makes the organization's total charitable donations since its inception $598,800.
