Determined to offer local residents more shopping options in North Mount Pleasant, the entrepreneurial duo of Karen Massarotti and Jessica Wiley recently opened a home goods store featuring 50 boutiques in a single 10,000 square-foot edifice.

Located in the old Boone Hall Market at 2521 N Hwy 17, Modern Manor is a one-stop-shop retail cooperative, where visitors can purchase an assortment of house items, including home furnishings, women’s apparel, imported antiques, lighting, art, jewelry, furniture pieces, handbags and other fashion accessories.

On hand to officially welcome Modern Manor to the local business community were a contingent of Mount Pleasant Council members and representatives of the Town Chamber of Commerce, all of whom participated in an outdoor March 19 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Prior to the inaugural celebration, Massarotti, an interior design specialist, highlighted a few of the unique aspects of her expansive shop.

“You can shop small and you can shop local. It’s women-owned, and you can shop in North Mount Pleasant, where there is no shopping,” she said while acknowledging the presence of Walmart and Costco in the area, but not much else.

Wiley, a Texas native, described Modern Manor as the perfect go-to retail venue for someone who may have just moved into a empty house or condo in need of a little décor and/or a touch of everyday elegance.

In addition, the business owners noted that a new coffee station will soon be part of the mix, where customers can unwind by sipping some coffee or kick back with an adult beverage.
