01) Mount Pleasant theft- 05-08-24

A homeowner’s return from an out-of-state funeral on April 10 revealed an opened bedroom window and an assortment of firearms and related paraphernalia missing from his Spark Street residence.

The window, he told Mount Pleasant PD officers, had been closed and locked upon his departure the day prior.

The pilfered items — worth a combined $1,400 — included:

• One AR-15 rifle and storage box

• One Glock 30 handgun and storage box

• Ammunition of various calibers

The only person on-site in the house in question was the crime victim’s nephew, who entered the residence after 11 p.m., but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, per authorities.

When examining Blink Doorbell footage from the previous night, police noted two individuals running through the driveway.

A suspect listed on the corresponding police incident report was described as a 17-year-old Black male.

This remains an active investigation.
